Event FAQS

BKtotheBeach is an annual century bike ride to raise funds and awareness for Friendship Circle of Brooklyn. 

Regardless of your cycling ability or connection to the Friendship Circle, BKtotheBeach is a great way to get a check on your bucket list - for an invaluable cause.
100 miles
1.Bicycle (a road bike is recommended, however it is not required), Your bicycle should be fitted with two water bottle cages
2. Proper fitting helmet
3. Two water bottles
4. Cycling Shoes (recommended) 
5. Chamois Butter
The registration fee is $125. This is the only payment you will be required to make and it will count towards your fundraising goal!  The rest of the participation is free provided that you complete your fundraising goal.

Please note that the registration fee is non-refundable.
The minimum fundraising requirement for reach participant is $1,800
If you've never fundraised before, it could seem daunting but once you begin, you will see just how simple our staff makes it for you to SURPASS your goal with ease.

A participant can withdraw their registration up to 4 weeks prior to the event, or any earlier, without penalty. 
After this time, all BKtotheBeach participants are responsible for the fundraising minimum in its entirety, with no exceptions.
Absolutely! Your friends and family can come and join to cheer you on at the Start Line and meet you at the Finish Line.
Firstly, have some faith in yourself! We've seen time and time again that our participants surprise themselves with just how quickly they can reach their goal.

In order to ensure that your participation benefits the Friendship Circle, please understand our fundraising policy below:

* Participants will have 4 weeks prior to Ride Day to give up their spot without being charged. 

* Participants will be required to fundraise 100% of their fundraising minimum 1 week prior to the ride. 

* Participants will be required to put down a credit card number at the time of recommitment. This card will not be charged provided that they complete 100% of their fundraising goal before the due date.

* Participants will receive communication regarding the above deadlines

* Participants will be charged if they do not reach their fundraising minimum by the above deadlines. They can be refunded (minus credit card processing fees) provided that they complete their fundraising goal and contact Friendship Circle support with a reimbursement request within 30 days after the ride.

Yes. You can make a donation to a Cyclist on a team or you can make a general team donation.
All donations should be mailed to:

Please make all checks payable to: Friendship Circle of Brooklyn.
Please make sure that in the memo it says  and who the donations should be credited to.
Click on the home page and begin typing the first or last name. Your options will display as you type.
Any donation made online should post immediately. If an online donation does not post within 5 minutes, please contact us.
If you check this checkbox, you will be charged the amount indicated next to the checkbox. This amount will also be visible to the non-profit. However, on the fundraising page, your intended - initial donation amount will be displayed.
All monetary donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Yes. For Canadian donations made online with a credit card, the amount entered in the online donation form will be in U.S. dollars.
Any donor who mailed their donation and provided an address will receive a receipt via mail once the donation has been processed. If you made your donation in installments, you will receive a receipt each time a monthly payment is processed.
Yes, anyone who donates online, regardless of the amount, will receive a receipt via email.
A Tax ID number identifies Friendship Circle of Brooklyn as a 501(c)(3) non-profit Organization. The Friendship Circle of Brooklyn Tax ID number is 46-2740024
When you make a donation online, you can designate what you want to appear as your recognition name on the participant's Honor Roll. This may be your name, or it could be something such as "From the whole Wolf family" or "in memory of Aunt Cathy."

Fundraising FAQs

If a donation check has been written out to you personally, you may endorse the back of the check and mail it in with a completed donation form to Friendship Circle of Brooklyn
It is not a good idea to send a cash donation in the mail. You can deposit the cash into your checking account and send a personal check from your account. Our mailing address is 792 Eastern Parkway #512 Brooklyn, NY 11213
Any donation made online should post immediately. If your donation does not post within 5 minutes, please contact us.
To have an offline donation show up on your page, please follow the easy step by step instructions below!
1. SIGN IN to your account and once you are on your HQ page, on the left hand side, (under your personalized logo), you will see an option which reads "enter offline donation". Click that and fill in the information.
2. MAIL your cash/checks to:

3. Once we receive your check/cash, we will verify it right away and it will show up towards your goal.
**Please note all checks must be made out to Friendship Circle of Brooklyn.**
A Tax ID number identifies Friendship Circle of Brooklyn as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Many donors will request this number to validate their donation as tax-deductible. The Friendship Circle of Brooklyn's Tax ID number is 46-2740024.
As your donors make a contribution, they have the option of whether or not they want to appear in the Honor Roll.
Log in with your email and password to visit your headquarters page. Select My Fundraising Report on the left side. You will then find a list of all of your donors as well as a list of all donors to your team .
To easily send thank-you emails to donors, follow these steps:Log in to your fundraiser dashboard by clicking the "My HQ" link in the top right
Click "My Fundraising Report" in the left sidebar
Locate the donor/donation you'd like to thank, and click "Send Email" (If the donor didn't submit their email address, this option is unavailable.)
Type the message in the pop-up window, and click "Send Email"
You are receiving these emails because we would like to keep you updated on your fundraising efforts. If you wish to stop receiving these updates, please login to your headquarters and edit your account preferences.

Website FAQs

A personal URL is a shortened link to your team or personal page that you can send to friends and family in emails. A personal URL will look like this https://www.bktothebeach.com/ben
